FOUNDER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Sean Conor Anderson is on staff at the Journey Center in Horseheads, NY as Music Director. He has been teaching music privately and in the public schools for the last 14 years after graduating from Ithaca College, including over a dozen guest conducting venues at the regional level, most recently the Eastern U.S. Music Camp at Colgate University in July 2018. Previous long term engagements include the Ithaca Children & Youth Chorus, Aurora Children’s Choir, and Dryden High School’s a cappella group, BeyondMeasure. He received conducting training and masterclasses from Dr. Janet Galvan, Kenneth Kiesler, Ann Howard Jones, and Joseph Flummerfelt and has led world premieres by Moses Hogan, Rick Bartlett, and John Armstrong. He has one choral arrangement published through Alfred of Build Me Up Buttercup. He enjoys life in Horseheads with his incomparable wife, Alden and amazing toddlers, Aubrey Hope and Asher Judah.
Lael Van De Water teaches music to all grades at Corning Christian Academy, Kings Way Academy, and Arrow Kids homeschool group. She has taught private voice lessons for 8 years. Lael studied Music Education and Vocal Performance at Ithaca College, and completed her masters in Music Education at Boston University. She has studied conducting under Dr. Janet Galvan, Dr. Jennifer Haywood, and Mr. Lawrence Doebler. Lael lives in Corning with her better half, Mark, and their sons Ari and Jack.
Mark Van De Water is the 7th-12th grade choral conductor at Campbell-Savona Jr/Sr High School and district music department chair. There he teaches and directs three curricular ensembles (middle school chorus, high school chorus, and high school auditioned choir), two extracurricular ensembles (select chorus and a high school mixed a cappella group, the Impressionists), guitar and piano group classes, and coaches vocal soloists. He also teaches private piano and guitar lessons outside of school. A graduate of Ithaca College, he studied conducting with Dr. Janet Galván, Dr. Jennifer Haywood, and Mr. Lawrence Doebler. He currently lives in Corning, NY with his impossibly amazing wife, Lael, and their two sons, Ari and Jack.
Alden Anderson is an executive assistant with an administrative industry-leading company, Belay Solutions. She serves clients throughout the United States. She is also an entrepreneur and a business owner. She has worked in various expressions of administration for over ten years and also holds a degree from Clarks Summit University in Early Childhood Education. As the wife of the Artistic Director of New Song, she values the passion and uniqueness that New Song brings to the region to unlock voices of the youngest members of the community and to make the choir accessible to all. She is a strong champion of the choir providing opportunities for every young person to experience the power of their voice and to see the value they bring to the community, region and world. She currently lives in Horseheads with her one-of-a-kind husband, Sean and their two magically beautiful children, Aubrey Hope and Asher Judah.
